Dopta, is a light shawl, which has been the traditional attire for Maithil men since beginning. It is matched with Dhoti and Kurta or Pajama and Kurta. It completes the traditional Maithil Man's dress.
Mithila Painting, more popularly known today as Madhubani Painting, originated in northern Bihar (Madhubani, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, Samastipur, and nearby districts) and the south-central part of Nepal (Dhanusa District, including Janakpur).
These paintings beautifully depict themes such as the marriage of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita, Shakti worship, and vividly capture the essence of Maithil culture.
